Sleeping & Spirituality
Ancient oriental texts contain expressions of deep sleep allowing our astral parts of our body to leave our psychical body. This needs to happen to become more personally spiritually adept. This is the time when we give more room to our spirit guides/ angels to assist us. Our spirit guides/angels use this time to heal troublesome areas of our body, mind and heart.
Experiencing a regular and healthy sleeping pattern encourages learning which is vital to becoming more aware of your spirit guides/angels messages. Developing the ability to put our own emotional and psychical health first is extremely important to developing a deep sense of spirituality and gathering more energy during deep sleep helps in this as it allows us to look after ourselves and appreciate ourselves more when we are conscious.
Here are some considerations worth practicing for developing a peaceful, open and confident body, mind and soul ;
* Have an adequate amount of sleep every night. Eight hours should be enough for most. However, it is important to note that many of us have been sleep deprived and require more sleep when beginning to develop consistency in their sleeping patterns.
* A nap during the day can be very beneficial if you recently have been lacking sleep.
* If you are ill, sleep more. While your body is healing, it will have more time and energy to rejuvenate itself.
* Sleep without a pillow. It should create the best stance for your spine. If you feel you cannot sleep without a pillow use a soft one so your spine remains as straight as possible. Take note that the pillow does not interrupt your breathing/air passages in any way. Clean your pillows regularly. Pillows can acquire not only dust but dust mites and bacteria so cleaning them on a regularly will decrease the amount of these particles you breath in.
* When purchasing a mattress notice if the mattress deforms your posture. Most of the time a soft mattress will not give the required support needed for your back. Eventually a mattress will weaken and if you cannot afford to replace your mattress regularly, it is worthwhile investing in one that is sturdy and will deteriorate with pressure as slow as possible overtime.
* When sleeping aim to not cross your limbs. Instead, sleep with your limbs by your side and slightly away from your body. Resting in this position allows the spirit world to work with your energy more easily, as various energy fields channel against each other when your body is uncomfortable and/or crossed. If your energy fields are already separated your spirit guides/angels do not have to do it so they have more time to help you rest, heal and deepen your spiritual being.
* Eat well and exercise often. Doing this encourages a positive outlook on yourself physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. It also leads to longer life span and the added bonus of a slower aging process physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.
* Meditate as much as possible. Most of us are busy so it can be difficult to fit in meditation into our daily timetable. However making a commitment to meditate for just five minutes before we go to bed and five minutes before we rise from our bed can make a positive difference to any unsettling worries and anxiety you may be experiencing. Deep meditation is the closest state to sleeping so even though I strongly suggest not supplementing any sleep your body requires with it, it is the best state to be in when wanting to be consciously aware of the spiritual benefits your body receives from resting.
NOTE - If you need to be somewhere on time, I strongly suggest having two alarms ready for the following day: one for when you plan to get up and one for five minutes after. Doing this may prevent you from falling asleep again.
* Rid yourself of negative energy you accumulate everyday from others and any electromagnetic fields such as radios, TV’s …etc by positioning your legs to the north hemisphere if you are in the south and vice versa. If you allow this negative energy to stick to yours, too often and/or in large amounts, it will cause an interruption in your energy flow and this will disrupt your nervous system.
* Worrying during the night will certainly rob you of sleep. Due to our natural need for rejuvenation every night, we are more vulnerable to cycle our thoughts as opposed to find a solution or extra insight to what is worrying us. It is also more difficult for us to stop what at times may feel like an endless cycle of worry as we have less energy to focus on something else or distract ourselves. After all, at times too much of another distraction can cause just as long of an amount or longer for us to get to sleep as well.
* What I recommend is to replace any negative thoughts with positive one’s that encourage yourself to truly believe that you do NOT deserve to worry regardless what has happened during the day. Instead thoughts should be of one’s that remind you of your worth and beauty such as ;
‘ I love myself’
‘ I deserve to be happy’
‘ I am beautiful’…
* If you commit to doing this every night you will not only fall asleep faster you will also wake with a more positive outlook on yourself, others and your surroundings.
* Another effective way to clear your self of any unwanted forces is to go out and absorb the natural healing energy field of the sun. A lot of us spend five days a week indoors for most of the day and absorb a loads of negative energy form our co – workers, clients and unnatural objects. Making a commitment to appreciate this wonderful natural force for a few minutes can do wonders for your spirit and whole being.
* We all deserve a good nights rest so if you want to have a go at the suggestions I have presented here. Through them I hope you lead yourself towards a deep sense of peace, acceptance and love for yourself and all that surrounds you!:)
